Abstract

This study was on green manufacturing effect on green marketing and environmental sustainability of states in the South-South and South East geo-political zones of Nigeria. The main objective of the study was to examine the effect of green manufacturing on green marketing and environmental sustainability of states in the South-South and South East geo-political zones of Nigeria. A cross-sectional survey research design was used for the study. The population of the study was 5001 registered companies in these states. The sample size was 370. Simple random technique was used to avoid bias in the selection of the companies, while judgemental sampling technique was used based on experience to avoid non-functional companies. Primary data were obtained from the respondents. Multiple regression statistical tool was used to test the stated research hypotheses. The findings of the study were that green design or design for the environment, with a t-value of 12.900 and life cycle analysis with t-value of 2.88 have significant effect on green marketing and environmental sustainability of the states South-South and South East geopolitical zones of Nigeria. The study recommended that companies should adhere to declared environmental protection plan or policy as to ensure environmental sustainability and relevant government regulatory should sanction defaulting companies that do not keep to their environmental sustainability promises,  companies can invest in modern sources of energy supply such as wind power and other renewable energy means as to reduce conventional energy consumption that results in toxic emission of hazardous substances to the environment. Also, companies should cultivate or imbibe the culture of recycling and reusing materials as inputs for manufacturing as to effectively manage the life cycles of products to reduce waste.
