Abstract

The Nigerian Textile and Apparel industry holds significant growth potential through adopting Business Intelligence Systems (BIS) to enhance decision-making and competitiveness. This study explores industry challenges and factors affecting BIS adoption, aiming to understand their impact on development. Using a multi-stage methodology, seven (7) in-depth interviews with industry representatives identified five (5) major challenges and six (6) key factors. The Best Worst Method (BWM) ranked these factors, revealing high costs and limited awareness as significant barriers to BIS adoption, negatively impacting growth. Despite lower rankings, issues like data availability and system compatibility remain critical, particularly for financially constrained stakeholders. The study concludes that BIS adoption is hindered by systemic industry challenges and recommends targeted investment in training and awareness programs to support successful BIS integration and sustainable development in the Nigerian T&A sector.
