Relationship between Teachers' Condition of Service and Students' Interest in Study of Nigerian Certificate in Education (NCE) Programmes in Sokoto State

Abstract
The paper investigated the relationship between teacher condition of services and interest in studying NCE programmes in Sokoto state. The study was guided by three objectives, three research questions and three research hypotheses among the objectives to find out if there is a relationship between teachers' appointment/advancement and students' interest in the study on NCE programmes and the hypothesis was tested at 0.05 level of significant in order to find out, if relationship exist or not. The finding indicated that there is a significant relationship between teachers' condition of service and students' interest in study of NCE programmes. The paper concluded that teachers' appointments, promotion and promotion implementation have a positive relationship in developing the students' interest in study of NCE programmes. The paper recommended that the Sokoto state government should provide employment opportunities for NCE graduates to teach Basic Education schools. This would improve the students’ interest in the study of NCE programmes.
